SOME TUX PAINT IDEAS FOR GRADE 2:
-Type spelling words in different fonts and colours and decorate with stamps.
-Create story maps.
-Write a story and present it as a booklet.
-Have students illustrate their favorite part of a story and write a sentence about why they liked it.
-Sort and classify stamps as magnetic or non magnetic.
-Create books about of the lifecycle of a butterfly or a frog.
-Create a class book about the Provinces of Canada.
-Create maps of their community using the stamps for cars and buildings and create a legend.
-Create a book about your school.
-Students can show their knowledge of adding and subtracting using the stamps to create a number sentence and answer
-Sort stamps by symmetrical and not symmetrical.
-Group letters in the alphabet/names by whether they are symmetrical or not.
-Have students use the symmetry tool in the wacky pen to create symmetrical snowflakes.
-Students create a picture that contains symmetrical shapes and then they switch computers with a partner and circle the symmetrical shapes.
-Fractions-Have students find stamps that can be divided into halves and use the moving van to cut them in half to create a page of half fractions. Do the same for quarters.
-Copy and paste to create patterns or complete a pattern that a partner has made.
-Use the stamps to illustrate skip counting by 2s, 3s, 5s, etc…
-Use Canadian Coin stamps to count money (use the down arrow on the stamp set with the clock and sign language at the top):
-Have students sort the stamps by which of the 4 food groups they fit into.
-Use Kid Pix to recreate the art works of your favorite artists.
-Use the digital camera or scanner to get pictures of students and then have them import them to use in cards for Mother’s or Father’s Day, Valentine’s Day or Christmas.
